I found that this book was a very brief, albeit correct, history of Marie Curie, but certainly contained less information about Curie the person, than did the biography that i read in primary school about 50 years ago. This book could be described as an acceptable, but very basic account of the life of Curie, best recommended for lower secondary students.
This is a short, to the point, biography of Marie Curie. A life as great as hers can easily be studied further. How've his is a great starting point. This is the second relatively short biography of Marie Curie that I have read. They are consistent with each other and I prefer this one.Marie Curie was awarded two Nobel Prizes and broke ground as a woman in sciences then dominated by males. Her biography describes how she had to struggle both in Poland and later in France to receive a professional, scientific education. She then engaged in groundbreaking scientific research.I read this biography as an adjunct to my study of the history of France. I was in need of succinct parallel reading and study materials. As such this product fitted my needs perfectly. Thank You....
I liked the book. It revealed a personal side of Marie Curie beyond her work on radium/radioactive materials with Pierre. I was surprised to learn that she wasn't accepted by everyone in the scientific community. This almost resulted in her not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. In her family's legacy there were a total of 5 Nobel Peace Prizes awarded. Both her daughter and son-in law followed in her and Pierre' s footsteps. Overall it was a good read and provided information that was not presented in science and history books. In her lifetime she tried to overcome a glass ceiling that should have never been in place.
I enjoyed this simple biography of Marie Curie. It was quick to read, and is just a tiny taste of her life and contributions.
I am loving this series of history books. Well researched and written in an easy to understand way. Enough to wet the appetite and find out more.There was so much information that I didn't know about Marie Curie. Learned alot more about this incredibale woman.
